Washing Machine Reaching Device

For:

Ron Baliko
Challenge: Ron was unable to reach the dial at the back of the washing machine to start the wash. Even if the dial was at the front it would be difficult for Ron to turn the dial with no finger dexterity.
Solution: A ¼" piece of doweling with a T-joint at one end for grip and a knuckle joint at the opposite end as shown above left side. The face plate from the dial was removed and a reduce fitting to accommodate the knuckle joint was inserted into the dial to allow Ron to turn it to the needed setting. Once the dial is set the T-joint is used to pull the dial out to start the wash.
