Van Entry Steps

Challenge: The client has Cerebral Palsy, is not tall and walks with crutches. She has difficulty entering and exiting a van on either side.
Solution: A lightweight wooden step device was made to assist the client in and out of the van. When the client is a passenger, someone will load the steps in the van for her, and when driving alone she will be able to load and unload the steps herself using canes as hooks. Three low step risers were used, as the client has difficulty with standard height risers.
Chapter: Hamilton, Ontario
