Tennis Ball Launcher
| Challenge: |
The client required a device that would throw tennis
ball straight up in the air to allow the client to develop an over
hand serve. |
| Solution: |
A device was made holding the ball in a cup with a
cage around it which prevents the ball from falling out. The cup is
fastened to a spring driven plunger and when the ball and cup are
forced down into the cage the spring is compressed. A latch
automatically catches and holds the plunger and when the player is
ready it merely requires him to touch the latch to to trip the
mechanism and throw the tennis ball into the air. The device is
mounted on a pivot fastener to the wheelchair frame under the seat.
