Standup Scooter

Challenge:

Our client is not able to sit or bend at the waist without severe pain due to an accident that damaged the nerve in her groin. The disability also prevents her from walking very far so that, at one time she was virtually housebound.

Solution: A scooter was modified so that she could stand upon it and control it from a collapsible mast for steering, stop, start and reverse. The collapsible mast, a removable battery and removable carrying basket permit her to easily load the scooter into the trunk of a car.
Subsequently, the wheels on the scooter were changed for larger wheels as the original small wheels were not able to gain traction in snow and ice conditions.

The scooter has made a very large difference to her life as she is now much more mobile than previously.
Chapter: London, Ontario
