Kitchen Counter Adaptations

Challenge:

The existing modified townhouse for wheelchair access was retrofitted with counter tops in the Kitchen with open access below, yet due to Ron’s height from knee to floor he would have to lift his legs off of the bottom footrest to gain access. If no shoes where worn there was limited access and often rubbed on the top of the knees causing sores on his skin.

Solution:

The face plates of the counters which prevented access  under the sink and stove top where arched out below each element. The centre part for the electrical outlet had to remain for electrical cooking utensils and the exposed cut under side painted with white paint to seal wood.
