Eating Machine
| Challenge: |
This device was designed for a client who was unable to eat
independently. |
| Solution: |
A Victoria Tetra volunteer created a machine that
consists of a spoon holder and hand support. Both can be rotated about
45º to allow food to be scooped, raised, and slid into the client's
mouth. The client's right forearm fits into the hand support, which is
raised and lowered by the means of two switches operated by the left
hand. The switches control a 12 volt dc motor secured to a tube, which
is clamped to a table with a C-clamp. |
