Child's Contour Chair

Challenge: A young child used a wheelchair for mobility and for seating. His grandmother felt there must be some form of alternative seating arrangement that he could comfortably watch TV with the rest of the family. His family had seen a picture of a chair that they thought might work for him but it was not suitable for his age or size.
Solution:

Using the smaller version of the chair as a point of reference, the volunteer on this project constructed a chair frame on castors. The frame was covered with 4-inch dense foam angled in the frame for comfort. The chair itself is a "bucket" type to address the young boy's spasticity.

The dad in this case, upholstered the chair himself. Now the whole family can spend time together watching TV and eating popcorn.
