Vancouver volunteer, Roy Hamaguchi, designed
a prototype for the tandem addition from copper tubing and then
attached an adapted car seat fitted with a chest harness for
security. A trailer hitch connects Riley’s part of the bike to
the back of his mom’s bike. Riley and his mom were both thrilled
with the finished product and with Roy’s hard work and
ingenuity.
Unfortunately, not long after the project was
finished, Riley’s mom’s bike was stolen from beside their
home. Later, thanks to the generous offer of a bike from a North
Shore bike shop “that was too good to refuse”, Riley, his mom
and his brother Curtis are once again “on the road.”
Tetra received a donation toward Riley’s
project on behalf of his grandmother; the balance of the cost was
covered through the generosity of the CKNW
Orphan’s fund.
