Bicycle Balance Wheels

Challenge: A young boy wanted to be able to ride his bicycle with his friends, but had poor balance due to his disability. The task was to build "balance" wheels that suited a child of his age and did not look "babyish."
Solution:

The device is a support attached to the bicycle so that the rider is supported at all times. A small (5") wheel is attached to the end of a canted beam on both sides of the bike. The beam is adjustable so the amount of support can be varied as the rider becomes familiar with maintaining balance.

The entire structure is made of aluminum tubing to keep the weight down while providing structural strength.
